Bike Hike

This page contains information about the event for Last Year but has been left here so you can see what the event was like.  Once information is available for this year’s event we’ll update this page with the appropriate details, add a sign-up form and send out the link to the Pack.  Stay tuned for more details!

The time has arrived for a summer Bike Hike!

The bike hike is planned for Sunday, August 7th, 2016.

We will be meeting at 3 PM in the parking lot of the Lebanon Valley Rail Trail ("Colebrook Trailhead", Trail Mile marker 4) near Mt. Gretna by the intersection of Rt 117 and Colebrook Rd.  A map of the area can be found at http://lvrailtrail.com/maps.htm

We will be riding on a cinder trail with a gentle incline for about 8 miles (4 out and 4 back) and returning to the parking area is very rewarding since you can coast almost the entire way back! We will return to the same parking lot where we start.  The trail does cross 2 roads but is otherwise free of motorized traffic.  Most of the trail will be shaded so there is not much worry about sunburn but it's never a bad idea to be safe.

A quick way to refresh your knowledge on Pennsylvania Bicycling safety and law, especially helmet requirements, may be found here: PA Commutes-Biking

Please plan to bring a water bottle (preferably with your child's name on it).

This is a FREE event and the entire family. Friends are welcome to join and this is a great opportunity to introduce a friend to scouting.

We would like to know who will attend, so please sign-up on the form below.

Here's the hard part...
You need a bike to participate and it has to get to there. If you need help getting your bike to the trail, or can transport additional bikes, please indicate that on the sign-up form.

Thanks!  Hope to see you there!
